Edmonton Heritage Festival
- Heritagefest is a collection of Alberta Based cultural groups that come together, annually, to share their history, song, dance and food with the world. This event is run by Edmonton Heritage Festival. Uyghurs participation in this festival shows recognition of Uyghurs as a nation, providing a place to educate many on Central Asian Culture they may have never seen. Also, a great way to showcase Uyghurs for their identity, to shed light on the culture and people being lost by the genocide committed by China. This shows that the crimes being committed in East Turkestan will not get rid of the passion, and the rich identity of Uyghurs. Our youth have taken inspiration from the past year’s festival in understanding who they are, where they come from and the history their families are intertwined with. Upcoming on the 50th anniversary of HeritageFest, our youth are more proactive in learning various aspects of Uyghur Culture to educate more people. Teaching and being proud of their people.

The Uyghur Crisis
-
- March 30, 2019
- West Edmonton Malls, Fantasyland hotel, Floor 3, Conference room 7
- The Chinese Communist Party has transformed occupied East Turkestan (Currently called Xinjiang) into a police state for the Uyghur and other Turkic Muslims, with more than 2 million in soviet gulag styled concentration camps. Total control of East Turkistan has become vital to Xi Jinping’s Belt Road Initiative (BRI) to dominate the world power. What do we know about the current situation in Xinjiang and the plight of the Uyghurs, and why have liberal governments and others of good conscience failed so far to challenge the Communist Party over its egregious policies and actions?
